Shahar Peer is through to the third round of the US Open, while Dudi Sela won his first round clash on Wednesday night.

Sela got off to a shaky start against Belgian Xavier Malisse, but eventually cruised through 7-6, 7-6, 6-2. He now faces the 12th seed, Russian Mikhail Youzhny.

Peer had an even more comprehensive route into the third round after she beat Frenchwoman Pauline Parmentier 6-2, 6-3. She next faces 19th seed Italian Flavia Pennetta.

Thursday sees Jonathan Erlich and Andy Ram in doubles action - albeit they're up against each other, while Peer begins her doubles campaign alongside Romanian Monica Niculescu as they take on Michaella Krajicek and Marie-Eve Pelletier.

RAm is also in mixed doubles action as he and Russian Elena Vesnina take on Raquel Kops-Jones and Eric Butorac.
