Egypt Refuse Israel Friendly

The Egyptian Football Association have said no to an Israeli request to play an international friendly, saying they'd rather play against Palestine.

Samir Zaher, the president of the Egyptian FA, confirmed he received an invitation for the Egyptian team to play a friendly match against Israel, but refused the request.

He said: "I have received a fax from the Israelis, but it appeared strange and whacked, I cannot discuss something like that or even think about that."

He added: "The Israeli request was denied, of course. The Egyptian national team will not normalize the relations with Israel. I would rather hope to have a friendly match against Palestine."

According to reports in the Israeli press, the Israeli football association sent several invitations to the Egyptians and never received any answer. Bookmark and Share
