Team GB face off Australia in their second final of the evening. Two hours after kick off in the Open Football match between Britain and Argentina, the British Zions took to to the field in Herzliya to face off Australia...
Fourteen minutes into the match, a conversion from Australia gave the boys from down under an early lead.
They cemented the advantage with yet another conversion just moments later.
9.28pm... and the match starts to take its toll on the British Zions. Our number 3 is led off the field limping by the physio.
Two minutes later, the ball flies over the bar at the British end again.
The score now.... 16-0.
9.32pm... Australia's number 20 led off, blood streaming down his face.
9.35pm... Team GB make a break for the Australian half and for the first time in the match, Oz are threatened with a concerted push for the line.
9.41pm... the comeback begins thanks to our number 10 and a shot straight through the posts... 16-3.
9.45pm... Australia try to widen the margin with another penalty but the ball flies past the posts.
9.47pm... GB win the ball from a scrum and make a fresh push for the goal line.
9.49pm...GB attempt another penalty, but to no avail.
At half-time, the score remains, 16-3.
10pm... the ball is back in play.
10.03pm... tensions erupt and tempers flare. A scuffle breaks out on the pitch. The brawlers are pulled apart but the mood has now turned ugly both on and off the field.
10.07pm... GB make a break for the goal line but a fumbled catch ruins our best chance of the half so far and the ball ends up back before the British posts.
10.12pm... a throw in from GB and once again the Zions are threatening the Ozzie line. A conversion through the posts and the score narrows... 16-6.
10.22pm... GB substitute number 12 for number 18. A swift penalty kick straight through the posts and the score is now 16-9.
10.27om... Australia's lead once again widens with another penalty... 19-9.
10.29pm... GB set their sights on another penalty but alas no joy.
10.33pm.... a tremendous break brings the ball back into the Oz half but GB are unable to capitalise on the sprint up the field.
10.39pm... the crowd and players almost come to blows after the ball flies into the stand and spectators hold back from returning it. A war of words breaks out between frustrated members of the GB side, with their eye on the clock, and a group from the American team in the stands determined to rile them.
10.45pm... the dying minutes of the game and a final push for the goal line from Team GB.
10.47pm... a scrum just yards from the line and GB take the ball over. The score 19-14.
10.48pm... the conversion keeps GB's hopes alive. 19-16.
10.50pm... the final whistle and the final score. 19-16.
A silver for GB.
