Team GB's Golf Foursome
GB's golf side will consist of four young golfers - Dan Levene (17), Ben Brownson (14), Josh Butler (15) and Jacob Finestein (15).
Managed by Jonathan Brownson, he says it will be a tough ask for them to come home with medals, but says they will be giving it their all.
He says: "They are all very determined individuals who want to do their best but also want to enjoy what promises to be a fantastic cultural and social experience."The competition will be very tough with the Americans and Israelis strong. Medals will be a bonus but they will all show great competitive spirit but above all they will all play with a smile on their face.
"Golf is a very individual sport and I believe that they have been practising and playing when they could and trying to get their handicaps down."
Half of the team, like Brownson, are based in Manchester, meaning his only means of contact with them has been via email and over the phone, though he's hoping that won't prove to be too much of a disadvantage in the long-run.
Ben, the son of the manager, has represented Dunham Forest Junior Team for the last two years and has been selected to play for them in the forthcoming Northern Bowl and AJGC&S National junior Golf trophy which take place after the Maccabiah. He also plays for the Manchester Grammar School golf team
Dan plays off a handicap of 7 and having just finished his A-levels, will now be concentrating on Golf. Having been offered a place at Oxford University, he hopes his grades will be good enough so that he can take up his place and will be playing in the Glancy for the Sussex Jewish Golf society.
Josh is a keen golfer who's been playing the sport since he was six-years-old. With a handicap of 11, he took part in the JCC Games in Orange County in 2007 and now that his exams have finished will be playing golf every day until he flies out to Israel.
Jacob's a late addition to the squad but is very keen having only started playing a few years ago. He is now practising hard and hopes to peak at the Games.
With their exams all now over, Brownson expects the quartet to all be out playing between now and 7 July, when they fly out, as they get fine tune for the golfing greens of Caesarea.
