Anti-Semitic Attack At ORT School

Students and staff at the ORT Aleph Jewish High School in Ukraine returned this week to discover their school had been the target of an anti-semitic attack.

Vandals sprayed graffiti on its walls saying “Jews, get out” and “Death to Jews”.

The Jewish school in Zaparozhye, has 322 students in a city with a Jewish population of around 20,000.

Ivor Levene OBE, executive Director of British ORT said: “I am appalled at this attack on the ORT Aleph school and the indignities that the children had to suffer. British ORT is proud to continue to support the Science and Technology Centre which we first helped to establish. I hope that the authorities will do more to prevent such acts in the future.”

Nigel Layton, Chairman of World Jewish Relief, said: "We are appalled at the offensive incident that has taken place at the ORT supported school in Zaparozhye, Ukraine in the last few days.”
