Israeli tennis player Andy Ram has won his opening match at the Barclays ATP World Tour Finals competition at the O2 Arena in London.

Teaming up with Belarussian Max Mirnyi, the seventh seeds beat the number two ranked Bob Bryan and Mike Bryan 6-4, 6-4 in Group B of the doubles tournament.

Reflecting on their win, Ram said: "We were aggressive and played with energy. The Bryans are a team that always play with high energy. You have to keep up the same intensity. We did it good today. We have to serve very well against the Bryans and stay all the time ahead, if you can. When they're ahead, it's tough to catch up."

The duo play their next match on Wednesday, and then final group tie on Friday. The top two teams from the four in the group will qualify for Saturday's semi-finals, with the final on Sunday.

This will be the last tournament Ram and Mirnyi play together, with Ram more than likely teaming up with fellow Israeli Yonathan Erlich ahead of January's Australian Open.
