Maccabi's Watery End In Water Polo

Wednesday 11th November 2009

Maccabi Water Polo UK's side saw their campaign come to a watery end last week as they suffered heartbreak in the cup final.

They enjoyed a dazzling run to get to the final as they brushed aside some of the best teams in London. In the final, four goals from former British national player James Kattan kept Maccabi in the running until the very last quarter, but ultimately, they fell just short as they were unable to defeat a full-strength Bexley.

With half the Maccabi team arriving late due to Brixton roadworks, a below-par Maccabi ended the first quarter leading 7-5. Reinforcements arrived during the first break, but in a physical game against more seasoned opponents, goals from Josh Brown, James Kattan and others were not enough to maintain the lead. The match ended Bexley 14-12 Maccabi.
