Jeremy Newmark, Chief Executive of the Jewish Leadership Council, Chief Executive of the Board of Deputies, Jon Benjamin, and the Community Security Trust, Richard Benson, also discussed the Government’s progress in implementing the recommendations of the all party parliamentary inquiry into antisemitism.

Dhanda said: “We have made significant progress on a number of the recommendations including security of schools. We have also provided support for the cross-party model of inquiry to be taken to other countries. To date Canada, the USA, France and Germany have expressed a strong interest in taking this forward. We are also undertaking research into the impact of anti-semitic discourse.”

He also highlighted his intention to visit Auschwitz next year with the Holocaust Educational Trust, and to engage trade unions in Holocaust Memorial Day in January.

Newmark said the meeting was “extremely productive.”

“The Minister also shared our concerns with regard to the planned visit of Ibrahim Mousawi and the potential damage it may do to community relations. He agreed to raise the matter with the Home Office to explore what action might be taken,” he added.
