Jewish Actor Joins EastEnders

by Justin Cohen - Thursday 1st June 2006

If you catch Peggy Mitchell handing out slices of cheesecake at the Queen Vic when you tune into EastEnders this weekend, it could be her way of preparing for the arrival of Albert Square’s latest kosher actor.

Hot on the heels of Tracy-Ann Oberman, who played Chrissie Watts, and Leonard Fenton’s Dr Legg before her, Robert Kazinsky is set to join the cast in July as Sean Slater, Stacey’s older brother.

The 22-year-old actor – who can speak Hebrew and who starred in a mobile phone commercial in Israel - made his television debut in the Basil Brush Show in 2005 before going on to star as Casper Rose in the hit programme Dream Team.

Other credits include roles in a film version of Twelfth Night in 2005 and a stage version of The Merchant of Venice the same year.

His latest character, in the hit BBC soap is described as “a young man with a huge chip on his shoulder. On appearance he’s bright, sharp, cheeky and good looking and has heart breaker potential. However, underneath he’s an amoral, thieving, violent nasty boy who trusts no one.”

Sean – whose other skills include acrobatics and impressions - said: "I am delighted to be joining EastEnders. I've grown up with it on screen and I can't quite believe I'm soon to be part of the Slater family."
