Yavneh unveils plan for two-form entry primary
digital plans for new EJPS building
Parents in Hertfordshire were given a boost this week as Yavneh College disclosed that it was submitting a planning application to build a primary school.
The Borehamwood School will be supported by J-Pesh (Jewish Primary Education in South Hertfordshire), a group that has been trying to create a new modern Orthodox primary in response to the demand on places.

Malcolm Gordon, head of governors at Yavneh, said: "Our plans are for a two-form entry school in a new building on the current site.
"We need planning permission from the borough council and from the LEA which is part of the county council. I am estimating that building work would take up to 18 months, but the kids could start lessons before that period. The main issue is getting the permission from the authorities and we can’t put a time on that."
He confirmed that J-Pesh would continue to look at other sites in case the school's application was unsuccessful.
In further news this week, Edgware Jewish Primary together with the Jewish Secondary Schools Movement said it had raised the "multi-millions" needed to start work on a new building in September and is applying for voluntary-aided status. The building on its Hale Lane site is scheduled to be completed within 18 months and will enable it to double its intake to 250.
A Barnet Council spokesman said: "The school is currently consulting with stakeholders about the proposal to become voluntary aided. After the proposals are published and considered, a decision will be made by the council's cabinet as to whether to approve them."
Chair of Governors Eddy Breuer-Weil said: "Four years ago, many families were struggling to find a suitable Orthodox primary for their children. The new building will provide our children with the educational environment they deserve and the opportunities to reach their full potential."
