Voice Of Jewish Sport
BANK HOLIDAY Monday morning was spent at Wingate & Finchley for the AJY Cup finals, and of the three matches I saw, all proved to be entertaining affairs. What did stick out though was that while the first two matches U10 games were played on a smaller, marked out pitch, the third game an U12 encounter was played on the full size pitch. These are national rules, though seem ridiculous.
The dimensions are always going to take its toll on the players, causing a detriment to the quality of the game and all in all, makes the game more conducive to kick-and-rush, rather than harnessing skill and technique. This is the situation across the country and people wonder why we dont produce skilful, talented players? But dont take my word for it, you can watch highlights of the matches at www.totallyjewish.com/ and see for yourself!DAVID BECKHAM has been called many things in his time, though peacekeeper hasnt been one of them. That was until now as its emerged his Major League soccer side LA Galaxy have invited the Iranian football team to play a friendly match in Los Angeles. Its thought the match will east tensions between Iran and the US. Whether the Iranians would be willing to quite literally play ball bearing in mind Beckhams Jewish roots is another question entirely
