Grant Pays Tribute At Auschwitz
Chelsea manager Avram Grant marked National Holocaust Day last Thursday when he took part in the March of the Living.
The silent walk from Auschwitz to the neighbouring death camp Birkenau also saw him blessed Chief Rabai Law at the March of the living in Auschwitz on right Israeli Chief of Staf Gabi Ashkenazi.Grants visit had been preceded by him leading Chelsea to their first ever Champions League final the previous night, when they beat Liverpool 3-2 to seal a final against Manchester Untied in Moscow later this month.
Wearing a Star of David armband, Grant sunk to hi knees at the full time whistle, and revealing his emotion said: It was not an easy day for me because it was Holocaust Day in my country and my grandfather was a victim.
My father is a survivor of the Holocaust. It puts it in some perspective. It wasnt easy but now it's a happy day.
