Always having an upward challenge having lost the first leg 2-0 in Paris last week, Maccabi were victorious in the second leg, claiming a 4-3 win, but ultimately lost 5-4 on aggregate.

Guillaume Hoarau put the French side at the Bloomfield Stadium on Thursday night to all but wrap up the tie, but the Israelis bounced back well.

Elran Atar equalised soon after, only for Ludovic Giuly to restore the French lead.

Yoval Avidor made it 2-2, before with seven minutes left, Haris Medunjanin put the home side ahead for the first time in the match.

Nene levelled for the visitors in injury time, but Atar scored again in the 95th minute of play to see the Israelis to the win, but ultimate disappointment.
