Hampstead Women’s Football Club, sponsored by Maccabi GB, saved a point on Sunday which was nothing less then they deserved after completely dominating their match with KPMG FC.

They fell a goal behind three minutes into the second half with the visitors’ first attack of the game.

The first half was peppered with chances but HWFC failed to capitalise and with ten shots on goal during this rampant first period, they came in at half time understandably disappointed.

Without captain Berks at the back Roberts stepped up from vice-captain and it seemed like it would be HWFC’s day when after five minutes, Stewart and Freeman linked up well to put Gadgil through on goal, but her shot went wide. Wave after wave of attack pierced the KPMG defence but each time a Hampstead forward found themselves in front of goal the chances went begging.

They were punished for their lack of clinical finishing when KPMG took the lead just after the break with their one and only attack of the game. An excellent 25-yard strike beat Coxy Mifsud in goal and it appeared as though it would be a painful day for the North London team.

With a number of substitutions during the second half, manager Brad Solomon tried to mix it up a little and seemed to be pushing not just for an equaliser but the three points.

The equaliser came on 85 minutes when a brilliant four-pass move started by a neat one – two between Forbes and Bard down the left hand side played in Freeman who from the edge of the penalty box curled her shot round three defenders into the bottom corner of the net.

It was simply what HWFC deserved and they spent the next five minutes searching for the winner. Gadgil went close again, as did Freeman with two efforts, while Chastanet had a blistering shot saved from 30 yards but when the referee blew the whistle the scores were still level.

Their next match in the summer league will take place on Sunday 15 July 2007 vs Katabella FC.

HWFC are searching for new players for the FA campaign which starts in September. They are looking to increase their squad with a further 5 players so if you are interested please contact the Manager, Brad Solomon for more information at http://www.hampsteadwomenfc.co.uk
