Jewish Womens Team Set For League
HWFC
Hampstead Women’s FC (HWFC), the only Jewish Ladies football team in the UK will be entering the FA Greater London (North) League this September as they look to take Jewish Women’s football onto the next level.
The team, who’ve been playing on Hampstead Heath for the past eight years have developed as a real grass roots team but have recently introduced a management structure and developed partnerships to build for the future.Training every week and playing in a pre-season summer tournament to prepare themselves for September’s challenge, they’ve also introduced a professional coach which has seen the ladies turn around their previous form leading to their captain Danielle Benjamin claiming: “We feel like Chelsea this season; we believe we can win the league.”
Furthermore, the club also have a long-term strategic plan, are looking to build a second team and view their ultimate goal as seeing the creation of a Jewish Women’s league within the next five years.
HWFC are currently seeking sponsorship to help sustain their growth and promote sport in schools within the Jewish community. Right-sided winger Kate Freeman said: “It’s really important to us that we have the support of the Jewish community so that Ladies and girls football can expand and that Jews are represented.”
