Glasgow Mac Round-Up: (U10) 25/02

Mark Tenby - Sunday 25th 2007f February 2007

Glasgow Maccabi Under 10s had a much better week at Glasgow Green.

After a narrow defeat and a draw last week in two games they should definitely have won, they played very well and showed a terrific attitude against two quality teams.

They were well beaten by Duntocher, a team who have not lost for two years, but were congratulated by the opposing management for their commitment and skill which were highlighted by a wonderful move involving Curtis Bennett and Daniel Silver which was brilliantly finished by Matt Groundland in the bottom corner for the goal of the game.

Their next opponents were old foes Shawfield and the boys fully deserved their victory. After an early miss by Bennett, he made amends by opening the scoring with a neat finish. Shawfield came back into the game and forced an equaliser past the excellent Matthew Ross but Maccabi would not give up and scored a fantastic late winner with Bennett drilling the ball into the top corner after great work again by Groundland and Silver. Final Score 2-1.

If Maccabi can keep this effort going, more winning performances will follow to make up for recent disappointments.

Team:
Matthew Ross, Jacob Ross, Harry Levitus, Matt Groundland, Daniel Silver, Curtis Bennett (Capt), Matthew Tenby, Gil Banks.
