PETER MORRISON CUP (Number in brackets represents division of side)
BRADY MACCABI (1) VS SOUTHGATE HARMEN A (1)
Although no one writes off a cup tie at this stage of the competition, it’s fair to say that both sides have bigger fish to fry with getting out of division one paramount to both side’s concerns.
Harmen are closer to the top of the pile and took a very credible point against Neasden last week as they battled out a 1-1 draw to stay in touch with the championship title, never mind going up via promotion.
Brady are three points behind and experienced something last week that they’re not used to as they fell to a defeat – their first in seven games.
They are though still involved in the promotion shake-up and with both sides concentrating on the league, the pressure is somewhat off them which should ensure an entertaining affair.
TJ PREDICTION:
BRADY MACCABI (1) 1 SOUTHGATE HARMEN A (1) 2
----------------------------------------------------
FC TEAM A (2) VS HENDON UNITED B (Prem)
Potential for a shock here as Jonathan Pearl’s FC Team side will more than fancy their chances of creating an upset against theit premier division rivals.
Slowly but surely, FC Team are moving up the table with two wins over second-place Fortune seeing them rev up their title push. They may be ten points behind the leaders, but they still have five games in hand.
Two wins over fellow title contenders can only give them more confidence and reflecting back on their double joy over Temple Fortune, manager Jonathan Pearl said: "We totally dominated and played some excellent football. I'm really proud of everyone today as they showed what FC Team is all about."
This is the only cup competition left for Hendon following their Cyril Anekstein exit last week at the hands of Lions B. The fact they threw away a 2-0 lead to go down 3-2 only heightened the frustration with joint-manager Martin Smulovich saying: "We threw away a two-goal lead and very disappointed not to kill of the tie before half time.
Team are never a side short of confidence and will have no qualms about coming up against a preimer division outfit. Hendon know they can’t take anything for granted and that they’re the side under pressure bearing in mind they’ve got everything to lose.
Very close to call bearing in mind Hendon’s indifferent form of late. Team will be up for this and could, just could, cause an upset.
TJ PREDICTION:

NORTH WEST NEASDEN A (Prem) VS BLIZZARD STORM (4)
With due respect to Blizzard, the issue here shouldn’t be who will win, but rather by how many Neasden win by.
Last week’s league win over Faithfold may not have been a demonstration of top-quality football, but it was a statement of intent in terms of laying down their title credentials. Right back in the title race, last week’s 2-0 win over the Greens was a necessity and they delivered in the most emphatic way.
Having showed substance last week, this week offers them the opportunity to show some style too as they come up against a division four side who come into this game on the back of a 3-1 defeat – their 11th loss from 17 games and one which sees them lodged into the bottom three of the division.
While willing, this shouldn’t prove to be too taxing for the premier division champions – an easy pasage through here.
TJ PREDICTION:
NORTH WEST NEASDEN A (Prem) 5 BLIZZARD STORM (4) 1
----------------------------------------------------
REDBRIDGE A (Prem) VS TEMPLE FORTUNE (2)
Fortune come into this game on the back of two disappointing results against FC Team A, which while it may have dented their title ambitions, they do still find themselves well in promotion contentions.
Fortune’s Lee Fegan conceded the better team won and did’t try to hide his disappointment, saying: “:We never got out of the starting blocks in the first game which was very disappointing and they deserved it - no complaints about that. We played much better in the second game and competed very well with them. I think we deserved a point at least, but overall, it's very disappointing to come away from the two games with nothing."
Disappointment could also be a term used to describe how Redbridge manager Greg Bookman felt last week after he saw his side fall to another defeat – this time 3-1 at the hands of Hendon A, all but bringing to an end any hopes his side had of mounting a title challenge.
Realistically out of contention for the league, if they want silverware this season they will have to focus on the cup, and they are faced with a tricky tie agaisnt Fortune who’s league form this season has suggeseted they could offer something fo a danger. Striker Rob Benson, who did shine last week – and won the admiration ond praise of the Team management has the potential to be a threat and he will need to be on top form if Fortune are to stand any chance.
However, the importance of this tie has now intensified for Redbridge, and with the premier division status on their side, expect them to make progress.

REDBRIDGE A (Prem) 3 TEMPLE FORTUNE (2) 1

PREMIER DIVISION: (D/H represents double-header)
UPDATED PREMIER DIVISION TABLE
HENDON UNITED A VS LONDON MACCABI LIONS A
This game couold result in one of two outcomes. On the one hand, it could see Lions going three points clear at the top of the table, or on the other, it could see Hendon joining Lions and Faithfold top of the table.
On paper – and form – the former of those outcomes seems the more likely given the Lions’ superb form of late which is only being bettered statistically every week as they wkeep on winning thei r games.
Their most recent of which was a convincing 3-0 win over Redbridge B in the cup, with this game seeing them looking to make it five league wins on the spin.
Hendon have pushed themselves back into the title frame as a result of an improved run of form which sees them now unbeaten in three games – with their last defeat being a 3-1 loss against Lions A.
David Garbacz’s side can make a real statement of intent by bringing the Lions’ superb run to an end – and that’s what it would be. However, given their current form, a draw will be the best they can hope for.
TJ PREDICTION:
HENDON UNITED A 1 LONDON MACCABI LIONS A 2
----------------------------------------------------
LONDON MACCABI LIONS B VS SOUTH MANX A
They may have done it rhe hard way last week, though it could serve them well in the months ahead given the fact that the Lions had to fight their way from 2-0 down to emerge 3-2 victors against Hendon B to keep alive their cup dream.
A game of two halves as the pattern of the game would suggest, manager Daniel Reuben said afterwards: “We were shocking in the first half playing against a strong wind and spirited Hendon side. We were certainly lucky to go in only 2-0 down and Hendon are probably kicking themselves for not killing the tie off.
"However, we upped the pace in the second half, changed our formation to 3-5-2 and "went for it". Suddenly we were imposing ourselves on them and penned them into their half.”
Reuben is no longer the sole manager as this week sees the return of Gavin Stollar, (who was back on the sidelines), who will resume managing of the side with Reuben following his return from his sabbatical. Stollar was understandably delighted saying: “I thought the character and determination we showed was second to none. It was great to get back on the touchline with a win."
The Manx may be low down in the league – they are in the lowest position possible, but that depth on lowness took on new meaning last week when they were on the wrong end of a 12-2 scoreline against division one side Oakwood in the cup. That led to stories of the team folding – which isn’t now the case – but they will need a major revamp to get back onwards and upwards.
This may be between the bottom two sides in the table, but there is a difference between them. Expect that to be evident on Sunday.

DIVISION ONE:
UPDATED DIVISION ONE TABLE
BRIXTON OLD BOYS VS REDBRIDGE B (D/H)
Four defeats from four games has consigned Redbridge to division one football though many more performances of those which they put in against Red Sea last week when they lost both games in a double-header could see even that threatened given the fact that they’ve played more games than those sides below them.
However, if Richard Bronzite thinks his side have problems, spare a though for Brixton who are going down this season. With their record now reading nine losses from nine games, their season has been a forlorn one and even given Redbridge’s poor form, it would be an ask for them to even claim their first point of the season here.
TJ PREDICTION:
BRIXTON OLD BOYS VS REDBRIDGE B (D/H) 0-20-2
----------------------------------------------------
CAMDEN PARK VS NL RAIDERS A
It may have only been a 1-0 win but Jonny Blain’s striek which was good enough to seal a 1-0 win over Brady saw them go two points clear at the top of the table, and was a result met with great joy and proundess by their joint-managers.
Adam Fegan knew the importance of it when he said: “I was so proud. It was a six-pointer for us. We were organised and disciplined.
"It was a match of very few chances as both teams defended extremely well. We stood firm and showed a lot of character against a team who had a lot of confidence from their fantastic result last week."
Danny Caro added: "I would like to add that we showed great resilience and doggedness. The boys worked their socks off and a clean sheet capped a job well done."
It would have been unthinkalbe just a month or two ago to suggest that their opponents this week would be sitting in fourth position in the league, but that’s exactly the case after Justin Rockberger’s side took six points from their double-header against Brixton last week – which now sees them lie eight points behind the leaders with a game in hand.
Rockberger described the wins as “comfortable”, and also paid tribute to 40-year-old Russell Greenfield who “still finds the back of the net as he has done for the last 15 years.”
The sides met recently when the Raiders ran out 3-1 winners, expect a similar outcome, if not closer result this time.
TJ PREDICTION:
CAMDEN PARK 1 NL RAIDERS A 2
----------------------------------------------------
MONTANA BOCA A VS NORTH WEST NEASDEN B
Sammy Carr’s side may have relinquished top spot in the league last week, but if they were going to do that, a 1-1 draw at Harmen isn’t the worst way of doing that, as they also took two points from fellow title contenders.
The point was the first time Neasden had dropped points in four games and with three games in hand to chase down a two-point deficit on the leaders, things are still looking good for them.
Montana has seen their recent form desert them of late and sitting down in sixth place will now have to be content with more division one football next season. Frustratingly for them, the last time they won a game – four games ago – was against the Raiders which shows that they are capable of beating the best this division has to offer. However, by the same token inconsistency has been their biggest problem as three wins, three losses and six draws would suggest.
Neasden won the earlier gmae between the two 1-0, expect a more comprehensive win this time around.
TJ PREDICTION:
MONTANA BOCA A 1 NORTH WEST NEASDEN B 3
----------------------------------------------------
OAKWOOD VS RED SEA (D/H)
Even given the problmes Siouith Manx are going through right now, Oakwood’s 12-2 cup win over them was still worthy of people standing up and taking notice off.
However, for manager Ric Blank, it was a result that was on the horizon. He said: “It's the ruthless performance we've threatened for a while now. With key players missing we were still outstanding and were 5-0 up at half time. And it makes up for the farce of the Peter Morrison last week."
That result – again even given for the Manx’s misfortune – belies their placing in the league –which is third-from-bottom and they have to be wary of slipping in the bottom two if their form doesn’t pick up and Red Sea continue to show signs of improving.
On form, this is a game between two sides who are enjoying relatively good form. Too close to call, thee could be just one goal in it.
TJ PREDICTION:
OAKWOOD VS RED SEA 2-1/2-0
----------------------------------------------------
DIVISION TWO:
UPDATED DIVISION TWO TABLE
FC TEAM B VS FAITHFOLD B
If FC Team B were threatning to show signs of improvement in their bid to beat the drop , they they really laid down their intentions last week as they upset the form book by turning over in-form Chigwell twice to propel them off the bottom of the table and also clsoe in considerably on the sides above them.
Richard Salmon proved to be their hero last week – scoring five times over the course of the two games and in scoring nine goals over the piece, are now the fourth highest scorers in the division.
However, if Team are showing signs of beating the drop, Faithfold are already one step ahead of them and go into this game looking to make it a hat-trick of league wins.
Last week’s 2-1 win at Harmen only illustrated the brillinat secnd half to the season they’re enjoying – and last week awa abrilliat second half showing as they fought back from a half-time deficit to run out 2-1 winners thanks to a debut strike from Adam Grossman and a superb David Marcus free-kick.
Having completely changed the playing personnel at the start of the season, manager Rob Shoman is now beginning to see the rewards, even if it has taken a while for the players to gel together as a team. This should prove to be an interesting affair as it pits together two sides who are in form and desperate for the points. Neither side will want it, but they may have to settle for a point.
TJ PREDICTION:
FC TEAM B 2 FAITHFOLD B 2
----------------------------------------------------
HOLY MOUNT ZION VS RAPID BANTA
Three opening day wins can only carry you so far and while it was good enough to see them relatively safe up until now, the rise of FC Team B of late has cast a doubt over their future in the division.
The good news for them is that if there’s one side who are faring even worse than them this season – it’s HMZ who are rooted to the bottom.
However, there’s only six points between the sides – and HMZ do actually have a game in hand over Banta. HMZ won’t have the fondest of memories for Banta as their 1-1 game between the sides hearlded the end of Banta’s winnig run – and it’s been relatiely downhill ever since. If Banta are to break their winless run, they couldn’t have handpicked a better team to try and do it against. If HMZ harbour any hopes of getting off the bottom of the table , they to couldn’t have handpicked a better side to try and achieve that against. A draw’s on the cards here…
TJ PREDICTION:
HOLY MOUNT ZION 1 RAPID BANTA 1
----------------------------------------------------
LONDON MACCABI LIONS C VS SOUTHGATE HARMEN B
Unbeaten in four games, the Lions are still right in the title shake-up and reinforced that last week as goals from Adam Savitz and Paul Stein saw them to a routine 2-0 win over Rapid Banta.
Just two wins from 11 games illustrates why manager Frank Steinberg can feel confident about his side’s title chances and a repeat performance of their 3-0 win from earlier in the season would certainly keep them on track for title silverware.
A further boost for the Lions in their quest to reach the top is the fact that they go into this game against a Harmen side who themselves are also in the frame for top spot given the fact that they’ve played fewer games than the three sides above them. Last week’s 2-1 home defeat by Faithfold was something of a shocker especially given the fact that they were also leading the game at one point, though manager Daniel Sasto was big enough to admit that: “Faithfold fully deserved the three points and played very well."
A repeat performance form them this week will see the Lions complete a league double without doubt. Even if they play to their potential, it could still be a tough ask for them.
TJ PREDICTION:
LONDON MACCABI LIONS C 2 SOUTHGATE HARMEN B 1
----------------------------------------------------
NL RAIDERS B VS CHIGWELL
The Raiders saw their lead at the top of the table cut to five points though to be fair to them they weren’t in action last week which accounted for the reduction in their lead.
Seven straight league wins accounts for the Raiders’ high standing as does a whopping goal tally of 43 goals coupled with just the nine conceded. They are certainly the in-form side in the division and will be looking to reinfirce their title credentials this weekend.
Chigwell had also been in good form of late though were met with a rude awakening last week when they were betaen twice – and pretty much comprehensively – by struggling FC Team B. Again though, as proved to be the case throughout last week, Chigwell manager Richard Slater said: "Full credit to FC Team. They fully deserved it and we didn't do ourselves justice today, which hurts."
Hoping that hurt can push them on and see them respond in a positive manner Chigwell will have their work cut out if they are to even take a point, nevermind three.
TJ PREDICTION:
NL RAIDERS B 2 CHIGWELL 1
----------------------------------------------------
DIVISION THREE:
UPDATED DIVISION THREE TABLE
CATFORD & BROMLEY MACCABI VS HENDON C
After an indifferent run of form to say the least, four wins on the spin have seen Hendon into fourth spot and even pushed them back in the title frame.
The chance of them making it five wins has to be firmly in their favour given that they’re coming up against the side who are one point of bottom spot and who go into this game on the back of a 5-0 defeat against Norstar A.
The margin of that loss was something of a surprise given their recent form and manager Lester Jacobs was of the opinion that the eventual scoreline wasn’t truly reflective of the way the game panne dout, saying: “It was a more interesting game than the scoreline suggest but Norstar are a very good team indeed and are easily the best side in our division this year."
A team going for the top against one looking to get off the bottom – away win here.
TJ PREDICTION:
CATFORD & BROMLEY MACCABI 1 HENDON C 2
----------------------------------------------------
FAITHFOLD C VS WOODFORD WANDERERS
Alex Aviram’s Woodford side moved into joint-top last week though it could have been even better for them as they came away from their double-header against Marylebone with four, and not six points.
They drew the first game 0-0, and did so despite seeing captain Jamie Shafron sent off for two bookable offences. And even though they won the second game thanks to goals from Darryl Green and Andy Levy, once again they had to complete the game with a numerical disadvantage following Elliot Gold’s dismissal.
While they’ve been moving to the top, David Garson’s side have been making their way to the bottom. Having recorded a stunning 6-3 win over L’Equipe, a result which should have given them the impetus to push on, they’ve instead gone the other way and gone on to lose their next six games to leave them firmly rooted to the bottom of the table. As such the last hing they would have wished for would have been a visit of Woodford.
On their day, Aviram’s side are capable of running in a handful of goals, that could well prove to be the case on Sunday.
TJ PREDICTION:
FAITHFOLD C 1 WOODFORD WANDERERS 3
----------------------------------------------------
FC MARYLEBONE VS L'EQUIPE
Two defeats in their last five games have certainly put a spanner in the works of Gideon Chain’s side as they look to make a title push, though they remedied that to some extent by comfortably beating FC Heath 3-0 last week to push themselves right back into the prmotion picture.
Marylebone’s season has also fluctuated this term and they go into this game two points below L’Equipe, but perhaps more tellingly have played three games more than them.
They will though at least go into this game on the back of something positive to take out of their games from Woodford, as Jonathan Davody, acting manager for the day, revealed: “I would like to stress that we were the first team this season to keep a clean sheet against the likes of Darryl Green and Mitch Hahn and I though we put in a great team effort.
"We could have even won the first game, while in the second game, Woodford only scored in the last 10 minutes in what was a very tight affair. It was a well deserved win for them but given their wild celebrations after they scored, it's fair to say we gave them a difficult pair of games.”
Those games also saw Marylebone field a depleted side and the Frenchmen must be hoping they can field something resembling a stronger outfit this time around.
L’Equipe though look as if they’re about to enjoy a second win as they make one final push for top spot, that surge will start this weelk.
TJ PREDICTION:
FC MARYLEBONE 1 L'EQUIPE 2
----------------------------------------------------
NORSTAR A VS MONTANABOCA B
Montana were forced to relinquish top spot for themselves last week even in beating Faithfold 5-3, though was a result which didn’t exactly thrill manager Nick Goodmaker.
He said: “We were really poor and got out of jail eventually after going 1-0, 2-1 and 3-2 down but we dug deep and thanks to some questionable refereeing and our substitutes we eventually won the game.
"Sub Matt Elash making his first appearance of the season came on with half an hour to go and proved to be the match winner scoring a hat-trick. Adam Newman who made his first start yesterday after a few sub appearances also got off the mark with our opening goal. Our other goalscorer was striker Adam Lenz, who scored his first of the season having come off the bench.
"We have to improve, be tougher and more clinical, Faithfold could have scored more but we were also guilty of trying to score the perfect goal too much. This division is tight and could come down to goal difference now so we need to be tighter at the back and more clinical."
They’ll certainly have to improve for the trip to Norstar this week – a side who are battling with them for the title. Phil Peters’ side warmed up for this game by easily seeing off Catford 5-0. 5-0 was also the scoreline when the sides met earlier in the season – when Norstar came out on top. They know they have it within them to beat them, Montana are gunning for revenge; a top-of-the-table clash with the outcome of the title a possibility – this has the potential of being one of the games of the day.
TJ PREDICTION:
NORSTAR A 3 MONTANABOCA B 2
----------------------------------------------------
ZIG ZAG VS FC HEATH
Zig Zag were left counting the cost of another defeat last week and with it manager Neal Cohen was bemoaning the performance of a referee.
Speaking about the man in the middle, he said: “The referee was a disgrace. He gave them a penalty which they missed and got every decision wrong."
Heath couldn’t have been too happy with their performance either last week as they went down to a 3-0 loss by L;Equipe.
Two teams in the bottom four. It’s not unthinkable to think these sides could yet become embroiled in a relegation struggle. Both sides need the points – and both will feel they can pick them up here.
TJ PREDICTION:
ZIG ZAG 2 FC HEATH 2
----------------------------------------------------
DIVISION FOUR:
UPDATED DIVISION FOUR TABLE
HMH JYC VS PINNER
Although at one point it seemed as if it wouldn’t be the case, history was made last Sunday morning as HMH finally picked up their first ever win in the MSFL when they defeated UJIA in a 3-2 classic.
It may not have done much for their positioning in the league table – though it does see them now share joint-bottom spot – but it will surely do their confidence the world of good even if the second part of the double-header resulted in a 5-1 loss.
What will be good for them is that their opponents this week, give them a realistic chance of building on that win as they’re up against a Pinner side who are faring just as bad as they are.
Pinner took on Redbridge last week and once again took a shock lead. However, that early goal then saw them concede half-a-dozen without reply.
Both sides have won one and drawn one league game this season, Pinner have conceded 68 goals, HMH 66. Two closely-matched sides, the first meeting between the two ended in a 1-1 draw, it wouldn’t be the greatest surprise in the world if the second game between then did too.
TJ PREDICTION:
HMH JYC 1 PINNER 1
----------------------------------------------------
JEWVENTUS VS ATHLETIC BILBAUM (D/H)
Bilbaum went goal crazy last week as they put nine goals past Real Life to move up into joint-sixth in the table.
That victory means they’ve won just one more game than they’ve lost this season which perfectly illustrates why they find themselves lodged in mind-table.
Jewventus’ record is even more similar this season as they’ve both won and lost six of their games this season. Last week’s 3-2 win over Hendon was all the more important as it saw them bounce back from their 1-0 loss against Norstar and gives them – albeit a remote chance of still becoming involved in the promotion shake-up.
Six points are up for grabs here – but you can’t see all of them going to just one of the sides.
TJ PREDICTION:
JEWVENTUS VS ATHLETIC BILBAUM 2-1/1-2
----------------------------------------------------
REDBRIDGE C VS REAL LIFE
Redbridge stay in fifth and on track for promotion after they once again had to suffer the shock of falling a goal behind against Pinner, before eventually coming good to record an emphatic win.
An added bonus of the 6-1 win was that Redbridge had six different scorers on the scoresheet, and manager Michael Winehouse was happy enough with the win, He said: "We went 1-0 down again, then woke up and never looked back. We also had three goals disallowed and it was still a rout. It improved our goal difference so I'm very happy. If we keep winning we will be up there come May."
If any one side encapsulates what inconsistency is about, then Real Life can lay claim to that mantle. Last week’s 9-3 loss at the hands of Bilbaum illustrated the negative side of their run and made their record read seven losses to go with seven wins.
Redbridge though will be confident they can capitalise on that inconsistency and keep pace with the sides looking to keep up their promotion charge.
TJ PREDICTION:
REDBRIDGE C 3 REAL LIFE 1
----------------------------------------------------
TEAM JLGB VS GLENTHORNE UTD B
First host fourth where a win for the home side could make things even tighter at the top.
David Blitz’s Glenthorne side made it ten wins from 15 games to stay on the title track as a hat-trick from David Blackman ensured they are one of three sides joint at the top of the table.
Oliver Shoffren’s side came up against another title challenger last week and although it only saw them take one point from a possible six against Norstar B, Shoffren was satisfied that his side gave as much as they could. Having drawn the first game before going down to a defeat, he said: “We didn't have the legs to make much of a contest of the second game, sadly as at one point nearly won the first game."
Glenthorne ran out comfortable 5-2 winners when the sides met earlier in the season, although it won’t be as comprehensive, expect them to complete a league double this time around.
TJ PREDICTION:
TEAM JLGB 2 GLENTHORNE UTD B 3
----------------------------------------------------
NORSTAR B VS UJIA
One of the other games of the day to look out for as second host third spot – with both sides, along with Glenthorne, sharing top spot in the table.
Of the trio at the top, UJIA have more at stake as they’ve played one more game than the other two and also had to suffer at the hands of HMH last week – a result which could cost costly when the points are totted up at the end of the season.
Norstar joined the other two at the top last week by virtue of getting the better of JLGB, with the four points they picked up. Manager Jonny Bunt said: “They were two good games and two fair results. The first was a close game could've gone either way, but in the second our superior passing and fitness really told! Gutted not to get six points but HMH did us a favour!"
With so little between them and so much at stake, a draw, which would suit neither, is the faourable outcome.
TJ PREDICTION:
NORSTAR B 2 UJIA 2
