Levenfiche Named Player Of The Year

Andrew Sherwood - Monday 8th 2009f June 2009

NWN A midfielder Daniel Levenfiche capped off a memorable season for the club when he was named Player of the Year on Monday night.

Levenfiche had one of his strongest seasons in Jewish football, was one of his double winning side's players of the year, and was rewarded for his efforts by representing the League Rep side.

Capping off what was therefore a superb season for him, Monday night's accolade was the proverbial icing on the cake and was an award which he described as being 'a great moment' and making him 'very proud'.

Speaking about being named the player of the season, he told TJ: "It's been a good year for me winning the double which is thanks to a good team effort and I'm absolutely delighted to win this award.

"It means a lot to me as it's an award voted for by my peers. I appreciate the way Jewish football's run and the votes that are given to me just makes me really, really proud. It was a great moment [when my name was called out].

"Winning the double was an amazing feat, we did it last year as well and it's just a shame that we got so close this year to winning the treble but just missed out, but this really does top off a great year.

"Three years ago I was playing division four football and to now be holding this award makes me really proud. This season has definitely been the best for me. I only joined Neasden halfway through last year and helped them to win the double then. But this year I've grown closer to all the team, all the boys. The way Jamie and Daniel run the club is fantastic and we also came very close in the non-Jewish cup this year too. It would have been the icing on the cake to win the treble on top of this but I don't have any complaints!"

Already looking ahead to next year, Levenfiche added: "As long as we can do just as well as we did this year, keep the same squad and try to progress a little bit further than we did in the non-Jewish cup which would have been nice, but we have a couple of trophies to defend and I really want to go for the Cyril Anekstein as it's the only one I haven't got on my mantelpiece yet!"
