HWFC Back To Winning Ways

HWFC 3 Milton Rovers 1

HWFC, sponsored my Maccabi GB, returned to winning ways with a convincing 3-1 win over Milton Rovers on Sunday.

The early breakthrough came on seven minutes when Sasha Stewart received a through ball from Freeman before spinning round her marker into the Milton penalty area and then coolly bending the ball into the bottom corner.

The lead was doubled 15 minutes later when after some sustained pressure and a third corner, Maxine Chastanet was able to latch onto Freeman’s in swinging corner to slot the ball past the outstretched Milton keeper.

Milton were under continuous pressure and in fairness did not get out of their half that much in the first period. On their one attack during the first 45 minutes the ball was pushed out wide and although Lewis went to clear the ball from just inside the bye-line, somehow the wind caught the clearance and the ball swung back in over the HWFC keeper and bounced into the net. It was a very lucky goal and the only time the HWFC keeper had to touch the ball throughout the first half.

HWFC came out strongly in the second half and made it 3-1 after 48 minutes. Forbes picked the ball up in midfield and fed a defense-splitting pass through three Milton players for Gadgil to latch onto. Bursting into the area she hit a snap-shot which the goalkeeper did well to save but she could only parry the ball out into the path of the oncoming Freeman who neatly tucked the ball into the bottom corner.

There was time for two more attacks but the HWFC strike-force were off target with them.

After a poor start to the summer campaign HWFC seemed to be back in their stride with a number of forst team players returning after summer breaks. The next match will be against KPMG FC on Sunday 8 July 2007.
