MJSL Review – Week 10

There were plenty of goals around the two divisions today, including the 15 scored by North Manchester KD in division one against Crumpsall.

PREMIER DIVISION
Reigning champions Oakhill followed the trend of all other teams by slipping up with Broughton, gaining a creditable draw. This will give the likes of Bowdon and Haroldeans hope in the quest for this season's title.

Elsewhere Mcr Maccabi 4th look a pale shade of last year's promise as they went down 3-0 to an ever improving Haroldeans side

It was Haroldeans’ third successive win as they took all three points at Frederick Road and now find themselves top of the MJSL Premier Division.

Ian Silverberg's team carried on from where they left off last week and produced some excellent flowing football with some clever passing and moving throughout the game.

The Liverpudlians went ahead as Richard Paydon carried on his rich vain of form as he pounced to give Haroldeans the lead. However, with Haroldeans only 1-0 up at the interval, there was still plenty to fight for. Indeed, Maccabi came close on a couple of occasions however the Haroldeans back line remained solid throughout and always looked in control.

Haroldeans second came when Bobby and James Abrams combined cleverly for James to slot home past the keeper. Bobby Abrams continued his good form when the striker curled a neat shot past a helpless Maccabi goalkeeper to seal the game.

DIVISION ONE
It was a goal fest in two of the games which featured this league's top two, particularly with North Manchester KD beating bottom-of-the-table Crumpsall 15-0.

Elsewhere, Roy's Rovers saw off F.C.K.D. with a nine-goal rout.
With a few players coming back from injury, Rovers started stronger scoring in the first five minutes, Colin Rich skipping past the defence and placing the ball in the net. Soon after Rich scored his second by beating the offside trap and then rounding the keeper.

Rovers were then awarded a penalty when Rob Caplan was brought down. Rich stepped up and hit the post but Jason Fox was quick to react and blasted the ball into the net, the referee gave offside disallowing the goal. Colin Rich scored the third goal after a cross from Rob Caplan and completed his hatrick. Just before half time, Rob Caplan scored himself with a well placed shot.

Shortly after the restart KD’s keeper saved a shot from Jason Fox but could not hold on to the ball, Caplan scored again blasting the ball into the net. Johnny Pollock crossed the ball from the right wing to the back post for Tal Marcus who was unmarked and hit the ball on the volley into the net.
15 minutes into the second half Colin Rich was replaced by Johnny Sneck. Jonny Lewis passed the ball to Jonny Pollock and skipped past a few KD players and scored. Rob Caplan squared the ball to Jonny Shneck who then tapped the ball into the net. Rovers last goal was scored by Tal Marcus chipping the keeper from a tight angle.

The other game saw a hotly disputed offside goal separate the teams. Sth Mcr Maccabi 3rd getting the all important strike which meant Westdene 3rd ended up with no points on the day.
